What Does Love Do To You?

Think of someone you know or have read about who was in love. Did love made the person see the world more clearly, or did it cloud his or her vision? Explain your answer in a paragraph in your Reader/Writer Notebook.

I've seen many people in love and love effects them differently. Some people, especially younger, inexperienced people,  can easily become blind when they are in love because they disregard things other than relationships. In this case, the relationships mostly last a short time. Other people, however, become more sophisticated and mature when they are in love.  I believe that people in longer relationships are mostly more mature because they have to be thoughtful and grown up enough to love, to care, and to tolerate a person while also taking good care o. Also, people who are in love share information and experience to each other, hence, helps people know more and see the world more clearly. Even though some people believe that people are clouded by love because they tend to focus only on their lovers and lose their attention on other things, I personally believe that love helps people to grow, to experience, to mature, and to clearly see the world.

Poetry Recital Reflection

- Many people, including me,  are a bit too nervous about speaking in front of the class
- Many people are reviewing their notes while people are presenting their poems
- I feel sympathy for the people presenting because I know how nervous they are
- I wasn't confident about presenting the poem but I tried mt best to be
- I hope to see more performance presented along with the poems
- my heart was beating so fast and my whole body was shaking while I was presenting
- I feel much calmer after I finished my presentation
- I think practice helps a lot and some people need to do that more
- Public speaking is not a issue for me but memorization of those difficult lines is
- I'm looking forward to see more tasks like this

The Fall of Satan Paraphrase

Line128-155
Beezlebub suggests Satan to lead the other fallen angels to fight against Heaven and God. Regardless by force, chance, or fate, this battle will show Satan's supreme ability and endanger God's power. Beezlebub says that he can see the outcome which the evil side will win and create a horrible destruction to Heaven. God and all the angels in heaven will perish. However, Beelzebub wonders and worries that after this revenge, will Satan leave him and other fallen angels in hell or pay them back when they satisfy Satan's vengeful desire?

Line156-191
Satan replies to Beezlebub quickly. He says that being weak is miserable and they will not do anything good but the evil things that delight themselves. If God tries to make them good, they'll fight back to prevent that from happening and find the true spirit of evil. They will back to the gate of Heaven to mad God and they'll bring hail, storm and mess there. Satan and the fallen angels will bring fury, mess, rage, and violence to show God their power and there'll no longer have light but evil flames. They'll seek the way that's most insulting and offensive to their enemy, God.

"Song: To Celia" Paraphrase

If you could like at me when you drink with me,
I would commit myself to you;
If you left a kiss in the cup,
I will give up the wine for it;
The desire of immortality from my heart rises,
but I would give it up for you.

I sent you a wreath of roses
so the roses can have a chance to not wither
but you only breath on them and send them back to me,
when I smell them as they flourish,
I'm sure the aroma is from you rather than the roses.

How Does Death Die?

In the poem "Death be not proud", the speaker says that Death will no longer exist once people die. Death dies when people die because people do not die twice. Also, people can rest their bodies and souls after they enter their afterlife and there will be no more death. Therefore, Death perish after people die.

What Do You Think

How do our hearts and minds influence our actions?
When people have a close bond, can they ever really be separated-even by death?

I think people follow their hearts to take actions even when the actions aren't acceptable for other people. For example, even though Romeo and Juliet's love is not accepted by their families, they still meet each other secretly. Also, people's hearts can influence their personalities that people's characteristics change along the experience they endure. The speaker in the "Song" is sarcastic and cynical about women because he was once hurt by a woman he loved.

I believe that when people have close bond, they are inseparable even by death. Since intimacy and bond between people are spiritual rather than physical, people who have close bond can never be separated easily. Death can split two people physically but the bond still exist in the living person's mind. Bond is like memory, it stays with you even when the people in your memory are not around.

Allision

A reference to something from literature, history, or other familiar cultural areas is an allusion. "Song" alludes to the mythological mermaids singing that lures sailors to crash their ships. What does this allusion signify in "Song"?

This allusion in "Song" signifies that women are dangerous and cannot be trust. When a  woman comes to a man and attract or even seduce him, it will always lead to a tragic and horrible consequence for the man to handle.
